The minimum requirement for direct migration though is ESXi 5.0. This is a fantastic answer! Since there is not direct upgrade path from 4.1 to 6.0, these are your options. Direct download and upload of VM files from/to datastores. Migrate your VMs from the 4.1 environment to the 6.0 environment using any number of tools, including:Ĭ. This is how I would work out option 2, above:ġ. Migrate your VMs from the old vCenter, now 6.0, to your new 6.0 vCenter. Bring your 4.1 environment up to vSphere 5.5 by upgrading first your vCenters and then your hosts.ģ. This is how I would work out option 1, above:ġ.
